If your house is overrun with vermin, or perhaps just pestered by the occasional wayward mouse, or rat, here are some helpful tips on eliminating these foul beasts from your home before they phone their friends and decide to start another plague. I’ll tell you something about rats and mice -- they’re gross. They are known to leave droppings and hair whenever they go. They carry disease, reproduce faster than the Kennedy clan and can wreak havoc on your household and the overall health and well being of your family.
Rodents are always looking for convenient places to set up shop so the best advice is to keep your environment clean. Sanitation is the best way to prevent a rodent infestation from occurring by removing their food and water sources and items that could potentially serve as shelter for them.
Aromatherapy: A Modern Miracle
Saints be praised! There is an alternative to harmful sprays and messy traps. Aromatherapy is seen as a healthy way to eliminate the pests from your home. Aromatherapy, you say? Yes, it is available.
There are certain rodent repellents designed to chase and keep the creepy critters away. Repellents are now in existence that manipulate the sense of smell to discourage, or prevent rodents from moving in.
Certain powders utilize fear inducing scents that arouse a rodent’s natural instincts. Some contain the scent of a predator’s urine, the scent used when marking territory. This might not sound like a very appealing option, but apparently it does the trick. This technique will prevent the rodents from nesting and hanging around indefinitely.
The aromatherapy approach is considered humane and safe for human contact, although the desired effect does not last long and may need to be repeated.
Fry ‘Em!
Electronic rodent repellent devices are another humane way of solving the problem. These devices use a high decibel signal that rodents cannot tolerate. They will run like the stinking vermin they are far, far away from your property and never return. The aforementioned devices are relatively inexpensive to purchase.
As I mentioned earlier in the article, of course, toxins and other chemicals may be effective to repel rodents; however many have a strong odor that people cannot tolerate.
They can also be environmentally dangerous, cause impotence, infertility, nausea, nosebleeds, constipation, diarrhea, non-stop vomiting, migraine headaches, chromosomal damage and you may grow a second head as a result of being exposed to them. These products may also be illegal in some states. But if you are okay with that, that’s an option to pursue.
I would suggest that you conduct in depth research before moving forward in the decision making process and entertaining the idea of executing any of these options.
